On the boughs

This photograph struck me as being a reflection in a lake or river overhung by the bows of a tree, with the faded luminance around the border of the image giving an almost ghostly, rippled effect that [to me] resembles water. The angle gives the composition gives an interestingly 'downward' view, though the scene is obviously pointed upward. The strong contrasting greens and reds of the foreground blow through the image and straight to the viewer's eye to emphasise this - whether it was intentional or not I don't know but it certainly fascinated me. It isn't often I see a photograph as striking as this one.

With the theme assuming around winter, the aforementioned effect also hints at an early winter chill, a frosty mist that clings in the air.
